Reality check

Here is a bit of Ruby that everyone needs in their library.

def check_reality( x=0, y=0 )
if x == y && x != y
puts "The world has ended. You no longer exist."
else
puts "Everything appears to be in order."
end
end

If you ever feel mystified or sense that things are not working the way they should on a technical level, you can fall back on this code to prove or disprove your hypothesis. To be extra sure, try calling it with different arguments. For example:

check_reality( 1, 569000.00 )
check_reality( "Franklin", 19 )
check_reality( 11, 77 )
check_reality( "myself", "troglodyte" )

As long as the universe has not begun collapsing on itself, you should get a reassuring response.

    really? I tried it but I always get the same result. One question I had is why do I get the result “myself == troglodyte”
    ?
