Artificial Intelligence
I thought about artificial intelligence today while the pathfinding algorithm in my brain directed the car. This was on my drive home from the office, naturally.
Here is a short list of interesting AI and AI-like applications I have worked on, or just come across:
1. A Behavioral application:
Take a look at these behaviors first modeled [...]
outplacement
Here is a term in common use today, about which I located a 1970 article in Time magazine. It seems to resonate even now, and could probably pass for a current story:

Chinese drugs
You would think that we would figure this out; if you manufacture in China, you need serious supervision on the ground. US news was filled with lead-paint toys, and Thai news (as reported here exclusively) was full of tainted Chinese flatware and textiles. Now this story regarding the drug Heparin:

Insurance Primer
A while back you will recall I wrote an article for a local real estate broker. Plenty of time has passed, so I am now making it available to my loyal readers. Do enjoy Insurance Primer for Residential Real Estate Investors. But make a pot of coffee… this one runs about 11 pages.

Nice work on the distro, John, I'm using it now.
Open-Source Angels
Intuition tells us that it is hard to sell something that anyone can get for free. Yet freely distributed, open-source (hereafter abbreviated FDOS) projects make money for their developers and others on service, custom development, implementation, training, advertising, t-shirt and book sales, and all manner of other things that grow out of the project.

Solutions
Do you ever get too entrenched in sales and leads and prospects, and have to empty your brain and have fun with technology? Well I would love to tell you that I have been enjoying a new computer game, but computer games kept me entertained for all of 2 hours. Then the frustration set [...]
Smooth Transitions
Check out the following articles I wrote for The Florida Insurance School News. The first discusses rewriting businessowner's policies in the wake of mass non-renewals. The second is a followup to the first, almost a sidebar:
Smooth Transitions in the Post BOP Era, Florida Insurance School News, v.10, 3, May 2007
Additional Considerations When Rewriting BOPs, Florida [...]
